The AAP is an honorary organization that recognizes the pursuit of medical knowledge and its advancement through experimentation, discovery and translation. Membership in the Association of American Physicians is a great honor, indicating pre‐eminence in a discipline and the highest caliber of physician‐led research. Members are nominated by and elected by their peers. Members have included numerous Nobel laureates as well as winners of other prestigious awards. The AAP brings its members together to promote exchange of ideas, creativity, and collegiality, to create and disseminate knowledge, and to provide role models for the next generation of physician-scientists.
